The management of CCGT Turkistan LLP, led by Chairman of the Management Board Ulan Burkitov, together with Alexander Milyutin, Member of the Board of Directors of JSC “Samruk-Kazyna Construction” (SKC), and Nurlan Belgibayev, representative of JSC “Samruk-Kazyna” National Welfare Fund, visited the Asia Trafo plant in Shymkent (Alageum Electric Group), where transformer equipment is being manufactured for the 1,000 MW combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant project.
For the project, 15 power transformers have been ordered from Asia Trafo, including step-up and step-down units. According to the company, part of the equipment has already been assembled.
The plant is certified by TÜV Rheinland Kazakhstan and complies with international standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. Its testing laboratory is accredited under GOST ISO/IEC 17025 and equipped with advanced HIGHVOLT systems.
CCGT Turkistan LLP noted that procuring transformers from a Kazakhstani manufacturer reduces logistics risks, shortens delivery lead times, and ensures prompt service and warranty support for the equipment within Kazakhstan. However, the entire scope of the order must be completed on schedule, Ulan Burkitov emphasized.
“Supporting a Kazakhstani manufacturer is important to us, and the plant’s location is a distinct advantage: it is close to the construction site. This will allow us to receive technical consultations and service support promptly, and will increase the reliability of project implementation,” Ulan Burkitov said.
The share of Kazakhstani local content in Asia Trafo’s products is at least 63%, and the localization level is increasing every year. The company plans to launch production of transformer oil, which had previously been imported.
Support for domestic manufacturers within the CCGT Turkistan project delivers a multiplicative economic effect through utilization of Kazakhstan’s industrial capacity, increased tax revenues, and reduced import dependence in critical power equipment. The social impact includes preserving and creating skilled jobs, strengthening engineering competencies, and training personnel for the national power sector domestically.
