Construction of the strategic energy facility in southern Kazakhstan - a 1000 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant — has reached another major milestone. The second gas turbine manufactured by Siemens Energy has been successfully installed in the Main Building of the station.
The turbine, weighing approximately 200 tons, was lifted by a 600-ton crawler crane and lowered through a technological opening directly onto its designated location.
It is worth noting that the valuable experience gained during the relocation and installation of the first gas turbine was fully applied this time. According to engineers, work of this scale requires exceptional coordination and precise calculation of all parameters, including boom outreach and rigging points. All actions were carried out strictly in accordance with the approved Work Execution Plan, ensuring the safety and successful completion of the installation.
The supply and management of complex logistics operations were carried out by the consortium of general contractors led by Doosan Enerbility. The consortium leader is responsible for engineering and overall project management, while its Kazakh partner, Integra Construction KZ, performs the main construction and installation works.
The gas turbine is currently installed on temporary supports. The next step will be the installation of the generator for this unit.
The construction of the CCGT power plant with a capacity of up to 1000 MW is being implemented by CCGT Turkistan LLP and aims to strengthen energy stability in the southern regions of Kazakhstan.
