During the official visit of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Germany, the German-Kazakh Business Forum “New Momentum for Cooperation” was held in Berlin. Speaking at the forum, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed establishing a network of Kazakh-German industrial competence centers linked to major investment projects. Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier also took part in the event.
On the sidelines of the forum, Ulan Burkitov, Chairman of the Management Board of CCGT Turkistan LLP, and Alexander Zolotukhin, Managing Director of Siemens Energy for Kazakhstan and Central Asia, agreed to expand cooperation in the training and development of energy professionals. One of the key areas of joint work is the establishment of a competency development center at the power plant currently under construction in the Sairam District of the Turkistan Region.
The center is expected to serve as a platform for hands-on training, professional development, knowledge transfer and personnel certification. Training programs are planned to be aligned with the technologies and equipment used at the power plant.
CCGT Turkistan LLP is constructing a 1,000 MW combined-cycle gas turbine power plant. The EPC contractor for the project is a consortium of Doosan Enerbility and Integra Construction KZ LLP. Siemens Energy is supplying four gas turbines, generators, a control system and other equipment required for power generation, equipment protection and power export to the grid.
Siemens Energy representatives are providing technical support for the installation of the supplied equipment and participating in preparations for commissioning. For the future operations team, this provides an opportunity to become familiar with the equipment and its operating features before the plant is commissioned.
Ahead of the forum, Ulan Burkitov visited the Siemens Energy Power Academy in Karlsruhe. He reviewed the training center’s infrastructure, technical training programs and digital simulator capabilities. This experience will help the parties develop a practical training model for specialists at the CCGT Turkistan site.
