CCGT Turkistan: Construction of External Electrical Networks Reviewed During an Inspection

The management of CCGT Turkistan LLP, led by Chairman of the Management Board Ulan Burkitov, conducted an inspection of the 500/220 kV External Electrical Networks construction segment. During the site walkdown, the participants reviewed progress on the 220 kV Shymkent–Sastobe overhead line (OHL), which is 36 km 112 m long. The total length of the project’s external electrical networks is 111 km 595 m. The works are being performed by a consortium of Elektromontazh JSC and NIPII Energiya JSC.

At present, works on the 220 kV Shymkent–Sastobe OHL include assembly of reinforced-concrete and anchor steel structures, as well as earthworks. During the inspection, actual construction progress was reviewed at two locations along the route of the line under construction. The readiness of the external electrical networks directly affects synchronization of plant commissioning and power export to the grid; therefore, this segment is among the key priorities for the overall project.

Works are being carried out under challenging weather conditions. Prolonged rains followed by snowfall have significantly complicated equipment access to certain sections of the route. At several locations, waterlogged ground is constraining the movement of specialized equipment and the execution of part of the construction and installation works.

Ulan Burkitov, Chairman of the Management Board of CCGT Turkistan LLP, noted: “For external electrical networks, it is essential to maintain control and prepare resources in advance. As soon as weather conditions allow the pace to be increased, contractors will need to recover lost time, including by mobilizing additional equipment and increasing manpower on the segment. The readiness of this area directly determines synchronization of plant commissioning and power export to the grid.”

Following the inspection, measures were reviewed to maintain construction momentum and reduce weather-related schedule slippage. Contractors were tasked with strengthening resource mobilization on site and implementing additional actions to ensure adherence to the work schedule.
