CCGT Turkistan tested emergency preparedness: more than 100 people evacuated

Joint fire-tactical drills were held at the construction site of CCGT Turkistan LLP. Personnel of the facility under construction and regional emergency services practiced coordinated actions to localize a simulated fire in the administrative and amenity building and rescue people during work at height.

According to the scenario, a short circuit caused a fire, while heavy smoke obstructed evacuation. Three construction site workers were trapped in a simulated emergency situation: one lost consciousness, another sustained thermal burns, and the third fell on the building’s roof and was unable to move due to a leg injury.

The personnel acted in accordance with industrial safety regulations: they activated the alarm system, de-energized the building, reported the situation to management and the occupational safety service, and called emergency responders. Before the arrival of fire crews, 106 out of 109 people inside the administrative and amenity building were evacuated.

The drills involved emergency services of Sairam District: the Auyl Kutkarushylary fire service and an ambulance team from the Karamurt rural district, as well as emergency department rescuers from Karasu village.

Fire crews conducted reconnaissance in smoke-filled rooms, found and evacuated the victims, and then extinguished the source of the fire. Medical teams provided first aid and simulated hospitalization. In total, 5 fire trucks, 2 ambulances, and 1 aerial work platform for roof evacuation operated at the site.

“Conducting fire safety drills is an important part of protecting people’s lives and health. In the event of a fire, every second matters. Such exercises help employees practically learn how to respond correctly in an emergency, evacuate safely, and use primary firefighting equipment. Our main goal is to ensure that every person is prepared to act confidently and correctly in emergency situations,” said Gaziz Mambetov, Director of the Industrial Safety and Occupational Health Department of CCGT Turkistan LLP.
