Environmental priorities of the new Constitution of Kazakhstan discussed at the CCGT Turkistan site

A meeting dedicated to explaining the environmental provisions of the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held at the construction site. The event was attended by the management and employees of CCGT Turkistan LLP, representatives of the consortium of Doosan Enerbility and Integra Construction KZ LLP, as well as contractor organizations involved in the construction of the plant. The participants discussed the constitutional duty to protect nature, use natural resources rationally, and comply with environmental requirements at all stages of work.

For CCGT Turkistan LLP, this topic is directly relevant. The company is implementing a project to build a 1,000 MW combined-cycle gas turbine power plant, which will become one of the key energy facilities in southern Kazakhstan. The plant will help reduce the energy deficit in the Turkistan Region and Shymkent, and improve the reliability of power supply in the region. The project provides for the use of best available techniques. The combined-cycle process will make it possible to use natural gas more efficiently, generate more electricity from each unit of fuel, and reduce the environmental impact compared with conventional generation.

During the meeting, participants also reviewed environmental compliance issues at the construction site: waste control, prevention of site pollution, rational use of resources, and the responsibility of officials for concealing information about environmental threats.

“We emphasized that environmental protection has moved from the category of simple technical rules to the status of a constitutional duty and an important state priority, requiring strict discipline at every stage of work. Strict compliance with environmental standards is no longer an option, but our main and non-negotiable condition for the successful launch of the plant,” said Akmaral Dzhumabekova, Chief Environmental Specialist of the Industrial Safety and Occupational Health Department of CCGT Turkistan LLP.

Awareness-raising work on the provisions of the new Constitution will continue at CCGT Turkistan LLP. Such meetings help employees and contractors understand how environmental standards are connected with daily work at the construction site.
