Four power autotransformers manufactured by the domestic plant Asia Trafo (Shymkent) have been installed in their design positions at the "CCGT Turkistan" power plant site. Each unit weighs approximately 123 tons, with a capacity of 167,000 kVA (167 MVA).
A unique 600-ton capacity crane was utilized for the installation of the heavy equipment. The placement of these units marks a key milestone in the implementation of the "Second Commissioning Complex". These new autotransformers will enable the plant to connect to 500 kV and 220 kV grids to evacuate generated power into the system and draw electricity for auxiliary needs during startup.
The choice of a Kazakhstani manufacturer for the "CCGT Turkistan" project was driven by high product quality and strategic location: the plant's proximity to the construction site mitigates logistics risks and ensures prompt technical service. In total, 15 transformers of various types have been ordered for the project. As of today, the equipment foundations and fire-retardant barriers are fully completed. The next shipment from the transformer plant is expected in April.
