Following the instruction of the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Erzhan Ertaev, Chairman of the Committee for State Energy Supervision and Control of the Ministry of Energy, visited the construction site of a 1,000 MW combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant. He inspected key facilities together with the management of CCGT Turkistan LLP and representatives of the general contractor - a consortium of Doosan Enerbility and Integra Construction KZ. More than 950 people are currently working on site in two shifts. To date, 87% of the power plant equipment has been delivered.
“The project is technically complex. Together with the team, we are actively working on its implementation, with communications taking place simultaneously at several levels. All our efforts are focused on completing construction within the planned timeframe and delivering first power,” said Ulan Burkitov, Chairman of the Management Board of CCGT Turkistan LLP, during the meeting.
One of the most challenging stages has been completed: four gas turbines and generators have been installed on temporary supports. The next steps include precision alignment of the units and the installation of auxiliary equipment.
“Our southern regions face an electricity shortage, which is why the Government is paying special attention to commissioning new generation capacity. We need to accelerate the pace. The Ministry of Energy is ready to take problematic issues under control and support their resolution. We all share one goal - to complete the project,” Erzhan Ertaev emphasized.
Meeting participants discussed the progress of construction and installation works (CIW), the readiness of gas infrastructure, and the status of overhead power transmission lines (OHL) - everything required to commission the first gas turbine and the power plant as a whole.
