At the instruction of the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, his non-staff assistant Batyrzhan Karakozov visited the construction site of CCGT Turkistan LLP. During the working trip, he reviewed the progress of construction of the 1,000 MW combined-cycle gas turbine power plant.
The current status of works was presented by Ulan Burkitov, Chairman of the Management Board of CCGT Turkistan LLP, representatives of the general contractor consortium - Doosan Enerbility and Integra Construction KZ LLP - as well as other participants involved in the construction.
During the on-site production meeting, participants walked through the project’s critical path - the facilities that directly affect the start-up of the power plant and the delivery of first power. Batyrzhan Karakozov was shown the area of the cold-start diesel generator units, where four units of equipment have been installed.
The inspection route also included the operational control point under construction, the outdoor switchyard, the main building, the installation site for gas turbine heat recovery steam generator elements, the area for preparing foundations for the steam turbines, the assembly and installation area of the air-cooled condenser unit, the gas preparation unit, and the administrative and amenity building.
The discussion also covered the actual pace of construction and installation works, the status of key areas, and the implementation of previously assigned tasks.
“Work at the site is organized in a systematic manner, and all processes are structured properly - this is clearly visible from the outside. The key task now is to maintain a high level of control, ensure clear coordination among all participants, and prevent any slowdown in the pace of project implementation,” noted Batyrzhan Karakozov, non-staff assistant to the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Batyrzhan Karakozov is an electrical engineer and Candidate of Technical Sciences. He has many years of experience in the energy sector, including in senior management positions. Over the years, he has headed the Institute of Nuclear Physics, a regional power distribution company, and also held senior positions at the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
