Readiness of Critical-Path Facilities Inspected at CCGT Turkistan

The management of CCGT Turkistan LLP, led by Chairman of the Management Board Ulan Burkitov, inspected the critical-path areas of the 1,000 MW combined-cycle power plant under construction. The readiness of these infrastructure facilities directly affects the project start-up timeline and the delivery of the first electricity to the grid.

The off-site meeting was attended by project engineers, technical and designer supervision specialists, as well as representatives of contractor organizations. At the main construction site, representatives of Doosan Enerbility and Integra Construction KZ joined the inspection.

External power networks

The delegation inspected the construction of 500/220 kV networks, which are essential for exporting power to the grid. Construction is currently underway on the 220 kV Shymkent - Sastobe overhead transmission line, with a length of more than 36 kilometers. The total length of the project’s external power networks will exceed 111 kilometers.

“The readiness of this area directly determines the synchronization of the plant’s commissioning and power export to the grid. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that the works are carried out in accordance with the approved schedule,” emphasized Ulan Burkitov, Chairman of the Management Board of CCGT Turkistan LLP.

 Water supply system

At the dedicated site, drilling is underway on seven exploratory wells with a depth of about 300 meters. Timely completion of this stage will make it possible to provide the future power plant with water for process operations and auxiliary needs.

Main power block

Works at the main construction site are in an active phase. At Unit 1, connection of the gas turbines to the heat recovery steam generators, as well as installation of automation systems and auxiliary equipment, is continuing. At Unit 2, installation is underway on the bypass ducts of the heat recovery steam generators for Gas Turbines No. 2.1 and No. 2.2, as well as the air intake systems.

During the inspection, the management paid special attention to compliance with KEGOC’s directive deadlines. The main task at the current stage is to accelerate construction and installation works, synchronize the schedules of contractor organizations, and arrange three-shift construction work at selected areas.

Control over the critical-path facilities will allow the project to move to commissioning works on schedule and fulfill its main objective - to deliver the first electricity to Kazakhstan’s power system.
