The leadership of Samruk-Kazyna JSC and Samruk-Kazyna Construction JSC (SKC) visited the construction site of a 1,000 MW combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant. The visit aimed to assess current progress, review infrastructure readiness, and align key decisions for the next stages of implementation of this strategically important project supporting reliable power supply in southern Kazakhstan.
The site visit was attended by Bakhytzhan Taubaev, Co-Managing Director for Strategy and Asset Management at Samruk-Kazyna JSC; Nurlan Belgibayev, Senior Manager at the Investment and Business Development Department of Samruk-Kazyna JSC; Saya Mynsharipova and Alexander Milyutin, Independent Directors of the Board of Directors of Samruk-Kazyna Construction JSC; as well as Alexey Repin, Senior Manager at the Energy and Mining Assets Department of Samruk-Kazyna JSC and a Member of the Supervisory Board of “CCGT Turkistan” LLP.
During the walkthrough, the delegation inspected key facilities across the site, including the main building and the external gas supply infrastructure, including the automatic gas distribution station currently under construction. Special attention was given to the project’s transition from civil and installation works to the active phase of installing the main process equipment.
Ulan Burkitov, Chairman of the Management Board of “CCGT Turkistan” LLP, said: “We have reached a key milestone in the project implementation — we have started installing the main CCGT equipment. The ‘gas heart’ of the plant has already been formed: gas turbine units with generators and elements of the control system are now in place.”
The delegation was also briefed on progress across key workstreams shaping the overall schedule. It was reported that over 80% of the equipment has been delivered to site. Preparations of critical infrastructure are progressing in parallel: external gas supply facilities (including the automatic gas distribution station) are 94.1% complete; the access road is 100% complete; and power transmission lines are 52% complete. On the main site, reinforced concrete works are 77.05%, and structural steel works are 19.09%.
Following the walkthrough, a working meeting was held with the Customer and representatives of the EPC contractor consortium consisting of Doosan Enerbility (Republic of Korea) and Integra Construction KZ (Kazakhstan). The parties discussed coordination matters and preparations for the first gas turbine commissioning, planned for late 2026. The project team was instructed to maintain the current pace and ensure schedule compliance with strict adherence to industrial safety and construction quality requirements.
