Key components of the combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) equipment for the power plant have arrived at the Chinese port of Tianjin from the German port of Hamburg. The steam turbine and its generator, manufactured in Europe, spent approximately three months in transit. The sea route stretched around 15,000 kilometers. After arrival, the equipment was placed in storage and is now being prepared for shipment to the construction site in the Turkistan region.
"The state-of-the-art equipment of our power plant falls under the category of Best Available Techniques (BAT) and is therefore highly valuable. The long sea route ‘Hamburg–Tianjin’, which circles the African continent, was chosen with safety considerations in mind. As an additional measure to ensure cargo protection, the equipment is fitted with impact sensors that detect potential damage during transportation," - noted Nurlan Darmenov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board for Commissioning at CCGT Turkistan.
At present, preparations are underway at the Port of Hamburg for the transportation of the next batch of technological equipment. A gas turbine generator and its components have been delivered from the manufacturing plant. All equipment has passed factory acceptance tests, is insured, and is ready for its journey to Kazakhstan.
