The first gas turbine and its components, manufactured at the Siemens Energy plant in Germany, have arrived at the construction site in the Sairam district of Turkistan region.
The gas turbine is the main equipment of the project for the construction of a combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant with a capacity of up to 1000 MW in the Sairam district of Turkistan region. To date, the construction of this power-generating facility is the largest industrial project in southern Kazakhstan. The area of the site is approximately 60 hectares.
The gas turbine and its components were shipped from Germany in December last year. The route, spanning over 18,000 kilometers, included sea transportation from the port of Hamburg to the port of Tianjin (PRC), followed by overland transportation through China to Kazakhstan.
“The gas turbine is one of the key components of the combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) unit, with a transport weight of approximately 204 tons. For this reason, specialized modular trailers designed for oversized cargo were used for transportation. The project for the construction of a power plant based on a CCGT unit with a flexible electricity generation mode and a total capacity of up to 1000 MW in Turkistan region is an important step in the development of the region’s energy infrastructure. The company is making every effort to successfully implement this project,” said Serik Usenov, Director of the Production and Technical Department of LLP "CCGT Turkistan".
