The first gas turbine has been installed in the main building of CCGT Turkistan with a capacity of 1000 MW at the construction site. The turbine weighs approximately 200 tons. The unit was transported using a 600-ton heavy-duty crane, one of the most powerful lifting machines currently operating in the Turkistan region.
Nurken Baken, Lead Mechanical Engineer of the Construction Control Department at CCGT Turkistan LLP:
“This work falls under a high-risk category. The turbine weighs around 200 tons. Therefore, the crane parameters, boom length, and lifting capacity were carefully calculated. All activities were organized according to the Work Execution Plan (WEP) and carried out safely.”
The turbine was transported from the warehouse to the construction site on a self-propelled modular platform, then lifted by a 600-ton heavy-duty crane over the roof metal structures and installed in the main building. The use of such specialized installation equipment allows safe handling of heavy components and performing complex maneuvers within the limited space of the metal structures.
Serjan Kamzin, Lead Mechanical Engineer at Doosan Enerbility:
“The turbine transfer was carried out in normal mode according to the Work Execution Plan, which we prepared jointly with specialists from Integra Construction KZ and Sarens. No incidents occurred.”
The final preparation of the turbine foundation and its installation are being carried out under the direct supervision of Siemens Energy (Germany) representatives. The presence of foreign technicians reduces risks and improves equipment assembly quality at early stages. At this stage, the gas turbine is installed on temporary mounting supports. Primary centering, leveling, and calibration will be performed later during the final installation on permanent supports, in accordance with manufacturer requirements and project documentation.
Akan Ashirbekov, Deputy Director of the “CCGT Construction Directorate” at Integra Construction KZ LLP:
“Siemens Energy representatives inspected the foundations and provided recommendations. After implementing them, approval for installation was granted.”
The installation of the first gas turbine in the main building marks the transition of CCGT Turkistan to the next phase of project implementation – from “concrete and metal structures” to the installation of the power unit. All remaining technological equipment of the power plant will be installed according to a similar plan.
It should be noted that CCGT Turkistan LLP is implementing a project to construct a 1000 MW CCGT in the Turkistan region. Construction, equipment logistics, and installation are being carried out by a consortium of Doosan Enerbility, Integra Construction KZ LLP, and BCN Group LLP. The main goal of the project is to strengthen the region’s energy independence and security, as well as create new jobs for the local population.
